It is a type of visa that allows Turkish citizens to establish and settle business in the UK without a general capital and language requirement. Its history is based on the Ankara treaty signed in 1963. And that’s where his name comes from. Under normal circumstances, people who want to start a business in England should have a very large amount of accumulation. However, there is no such requirement on the ECAA Business Person visa (Ankara Agreement).

What is the Ankara Agreement?

The Ankara agreement in 1963, of the period who belong to the common market-Germany, France and the Benelux countries signed in Ankara between Turkey and the parties on the date of signature and to existing laws, regulations and practices of the signatories to the agreement in the following years is the new covenant, which is valid for citizens. The ECAA or Ankara Agreement visa created under this treaty is a type of visa that gives citizens of countries with co-operation agreements with the European Union the right to establish their own business in the United Kingdom of the United Kingdom and to live in the United Kingdom. The Ankara Agreement visa covers citizens of Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey. However, since Romania and Bulgaria are EU countries, the Ankara Agreement visa is currently only actively applied to citizens of the Republic of Turkey who are parties to the agreement.

Who can apply for an ECAA visa?

All citizens of the Republic of Turkey who are over 18 years of age who want to start a business in the UK or do their own business can apply for a UK visa. Ankara Agreement people applying for a UK visa are not obliged to open a business in the UK and to employ workers. The person can work in the field related to the job where he / she has received his / her education or has acquired a profession. For example; People applying for the Ankara Agreement visa can open a construction office or store or provide services such as marketing and chauffeur ship by showing their UK residence address. However, persons are obliged to do the profession they declare in their UK visa application.

  • Citizens of the Republic of Turkey can establish their own business in the UK or become a partner in an existing company with an ECAA Ankara Agreement visa.
  • People who have settled in the UK on an Ankara Agreement visa can benefit from free and health benefits offered to UK citizens.
  • People who have settled in the UK on an Ankara Agreement visa can postpone their military service until the age of 37 and benefit from the right to military service.
  • People who have settled in the UK under the ECAA Business Person visa (Ankara Agreement) can take their dependents with them. Family members are not obliged to do the profession declared in the person’s visa application. They can work in any other field they want.
